Stories from the road

Easter-Hitchhiking-Days

For an apple and an egg to Marburg (Ger)

The rules

Ok Folks, to keep the whole thing simple, here you have a short list of the most important information.

Basic rules

– As always, we call for fairness. We won´t controle anyone. Who cheats is an idiot.

– We do not tolerate any disrimination. Respect and tolerance!

-You always have to hitchhike. Only cities with public transport are an exception.

– You are free to choose the means of transport you use while hitchhiking (car, bike, train, airplane…)

– You decide, if you want to travel alone or in a team (recommended). If you start as a team, you have to stay as a team. Do not seperate!

Initial situation

-Each participant or team starts with an appel and an egg (payed by yourself and hard boiled).

-Point of departure: Totally up to you

-Time of departure: Easter Friday from 8 am (starting later is possible)

Aim of the Game

-The aim is to get the best (most extraordinary, unbelievable craziest) SOMETHING in exchange for your apples and eggs, while hitchhiking. In the end all SOMETHINGS are valued by the applaus of the audience in Marburg.

Mode

-You start exchanging your apple and egg with the first SOMETHING, which you can exchange with the next SOMETHING, and so on….

-You must exchange your SOMETHINGS with the driver or the people sitting in your lift. But it doesn´t have to be something placed in the car or lift.

Finish

-You have to reach an unknown pub in Marburg (to be announced). You have to be there on saturday 9pm at latest, otherwise you´re out of the game.

What is a „SOMETHING“?

-It can be anything, without any description, rules or borders.

Extra-shit

The bazaar

-The Bazar is a set-up place for you. We organized a lot of cool stuff that give you a boost right at the beginning or during the race. Just go there, exchange your sth and get back on track!

Big question: Where is the Bazar? Check the link and ring at”Meißner”s door!
Please note: The Bazar is OPEN FRIDAY FROM 11 am to 6 pm and on SATURDAY FROM 11 am to 3 pm. The Bazar is organized by a volunteer. So please respect the opening hours. Further questions?! Just tell us…

Exchange Market (Party)

-The exchange markets are meeting points for all hitchhikers planed on friday night. Here you can pre-exchange your SOMETHINGS and storries one day before the final meeting.

Where?
→ You tell us! Each one who´s up for some hitchhikers and their storries in the evening, can organize one of these E.M.. Just write us on Facebook or tramprennen.org.

The Joker

-Something special! It´s a…forget it! The jokers identity will be published on friday morning 8 am.

A fundraising Guide and Route capacity

Hey folks, this is a quick update about what’s going these days!

1. Fundraising Guide

We’re close to reach the 50 Cent/km, so almost 1000 Euro are inside of the water bucket! Awesomizzl, thanks and thumbs up for everyone who raised cents and told friends and family about the race so far! Keep on rocking!! Please remember that Viva con Agua and the WASH-project is big part of this project and it would be nice if everyone contributes :)

If you have a few doubts about fundraising, check out our hints in the fundrasing Guide:
German: Fundraising Guide
English: Fundraising Guide

2. Route Grover (Berchtesgaden) is cancelled

Let’s say in good old tradition we had to cancel one route a few weeks before the race starts. We prefer to have 5 full routes rather than 6 semi-equipped. Therefore Grover had to leave us…poor guy. We’ll probaby integrate a few meeting points to Oscar The Grouch (Bayreuth).

3. Route capacities and choosing a route

So far two routes are full: Ernie/Dresden (10/10) and Kermit/Copenhagen (10/10). Oscar (4/10), Bert/Leipzig (4/10) and Cookie Monster/Ghent (6/10) have slots left.

We received quite a few mails with the request to increase the number of maximum 10 teams per route so everyone can hitch the preferred route. We’re sorry, at the moment we can’t do that – otherwise some routes would have 16 teams, some only 6. If there will be more than 50 teams officially registered we will add slots to the 5 remaiing routes. First comes, first serves – in our opinion a fair way of handling every single team.

4. Talkactive hitchhikers for radio interview needed!

The german radio Channel You FM (www.you-fm.de) in the area of Hessen wants to report about the race before and after the start! We have quite a few hitchhikers from this region! Do you wanna give an interview about the race? :) It’s not necessary that you hitchhiked before or something, just go for it, it’s a lot of fun!
Please get in touch with Marco: gro.nennerpmartnull@ocram

5. Hitchpackages and Pre-Openings

To avoid misunderstandings: We will bring the Hitchpackages to the Pre-Opening in your starting city. About the Pre-Opening and meeting point in Ghent, Copenhagen, Bayreuth, Leipzig and Dresden we’ll inform you next week! :)

6. Registration stop is coming soon

We’ll stop registrations with maximum 60 teams or on August 14th. Please tell your friends to register as soon as possible if they still wanna take part in Tramprennen 2012 – otherwise it might be too late. Whoop Whoop!

Thanks for reading and thumbs up, in less than 3 weeks it’s time to kick ass! =)

New: Hitchmate X-Change Pin Board

Heya! Since we received quite a few mails of people still searching for hitchmate we decided to set up a pin board. Login and write some sentences (where you from, which route you wanna hitch, etc) and leave a contact information, so other hitchhikers can get in touch and register a team together with you!

Media Infos & Contact

16. – 30. August 2013: Tramprennen, a hitchhiking race for Viva con Agua, goes to Masuria in Poland. For the sixth time, young people are hitchhiking across Europe to raise money for the drinking water projects supported by Viva con Agua.

There are two important goals: With Tramprennen, the hitchhiking race, we want to raise awareness about the worldwide problematic around sanitation and drinking water also as simultaneously promote and spread the culture of hitchhiking.

Essential to help us reach those goals: articles, interviews and reports in the media!
